The Beads of Courage UK Oncology Programme is delighted to be supported by Children with Cancer UK

Beads of Courage UK is delighted to announce a new five year partnership (2023-2028) with Children with Cancer UK to help support young cancer patients and their families.

Children with Cancer UK

Children with Cancer UK is a leading children's cancer charity dedicated to raising and investing funds into vital specialist research to save the lives of children and young people with cancer. Their mission is to improve survival rates and the quality of survival in young patients, and to find ways to prevent cancer in the future. Whilst working towards this, Children with Cancer UK funds support for children and their families as they navigate treatment. What began as a small memorial charity in 1988, has evolved into a major force raising more than £300 million and investing in over 300 pioneering research projects.

This partnership will see Children with Cancer UK continue to fund the Beads of Courage UK Oncology programme, which it has supported since 2019. The programme is designed to offer support and strength to all children diagnosed with cancer as they undergo hospital treatment. The partnership will also help to fund the newly established Beads of Courage UK Siblings programme, which will provide support and guidance to children whose siblings are going through cancer treatment, and give them the courage to cope with challenging situations.

Watch the video of Ted's Story below

Ted was diagnosed with infantile acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at just 6 months old. Now in remission, Ted and his father share their experience of the road to recovery and how the Beads of Courage helped to articulate Ted’s journey and story.

Children with Cancer UK fund research, support families and raise awareness surrounding childhood cancer. Since the charity was founded, Children with Cancer UK have funded over 300 research projects leading to the development of better, kinder treatments and significantly contributing to survival rates. They also shine a spotlight on childhood cancer to improve outcomes for thousands of children and young people across the UK; thanks to their network of experts, they can educate families, the public and the scientific community.

Since our partnership with Children with Cancer UK began in 2019, they have helped support approximately 14,000 children in over 100 hospitals acknowledge, celebrate and record over 10 million milestones! Their grant has also enabled training sessions to hospital staff on how to support individual patients throughout the programme both practically and emotionally. We can’t thank Children with Cancer UK enough for their ongoing generosity and support.

Every bead tells a story of hope, support and encouragement.
